It's not just the children

I have written before about how we in the adult world are failing our children and young people when we do not ensure that the resources required to meet the overarching goals of the authorities are set aside. An equally serious, perhaps even more serious problem is the view we have of women in the patriarchal system in the world. You could say that it affects one half of the adult population. Including children, about two-thirds of the human population on earth.

We think we are so equal in the so-called developed world, but just look at the paychecks of a man and a woman doing exactly the same type of job. The man earns significantly more than the woman. The number of areas where it is unequal can be made long and it is extremely slow to bring about change.

In many parts of the world, a man can also abuse his wife or girlfriend without any consequences whatsoever. Women can still be declared incompetent and have to be “led” by their husband or a male relative. Going to school is not at all obvious for many young girls or young women. They should be kept out of education and locked up at home taking care of the husband, the children and the home.

In several cultures and in some countries, the woman should submit to sexual activities when the man wants it. In some cases, authorities turn a blind eye, or it may simply be permitted, when the man forces his wife or girlfriend to have sexual intercourse. This is tantamount to rape in my opinion.

It is probably not much better in those countries that consider themselves more developed. Rape in the home becomes a word-for-word incident if it were to be reported to the police and lead to prosecution. The burden of proof soon falls on the woman, as it must be beyond reasonable doubt that the man is guilty. The same applies to women who are raped in the city, in a hotel, at a corporate event or the like. If the man is not caught red-handed, the burden of proof falls back on the victim.

It is somewhat implied that the entire society is built around men and that a man's word is worth more than a woman's. This applies to basically all areas such as managerial jobs, salary levels, better treatment, skills development or getting ideas heard.

As if this were not bad enough, there is a male variety that is even worse. I say variety because we do not know how big the problem really is. It's about men who drug, rape, sell their wives and girlfriends to other men. They also film the whole thing and publish it on closed websites and for closed groups. Such an internet group was started a while ago and in just a few days it had 62 million visitors or users. I wonder how screwed up you are if you drug a person you said you loved, have sex with her or let others have sex with her at the same time as recording it and posting it on a website where other men can take part in the content.

Unfortunately, it's not just wives or girlfriends. People abuse their own or other people's children and young people, film them and post the films for others to see. It's like a plague that has completely destroyed the moral compass they had when they were born. They are completely focused on satisfying their own ego without taking any account of the harm they cause to others.
Someone might object that there are actually women who abuse both men and children. This is absolutely true, but it is not on the scale that I described before. Is it a women's problem that it looks like this? Are women inferior to men? Are women less smart, intelligent and competent than men? Undoubtedly no, the tendency is actually the exact opposite. More and more women are completing higher education than men.

The fact is that it is a men's problem that it looks like this. There are male structures and values everywhere. In many cases, men are in power and could change most of the problems if they wanted to. However, that would mean that they would have to share power, and they don't seem to want to do that.

Many of us are to blame for the fact that change in the system is so slow, or perhaps not moving at all. It is easy to look away when a woman is discriminated against at work, subjected to sexual or other harassment at or outside of work. Not to speak up when a man makes derogatory comments about a woman, or comments on a woman's body in front of other men. It is we who consider ourselves equal who need to speak out, and it needs to happen when it happens. Because it takes courage to step forward and take any crap from the person who spoke out or those around this person.

It is we men who must seriously raise our voices against, perhaps legally correct decisions in a manly way, that take the man's side in a trial. Raise our voice and put pressure on politicians to take this issue very seriously. Politicians need to show courage in demanding that companies treat employees equally, regardless of whether they are men or women. We need to demand that the justice system investigate all reports of rape and sexual exploitation of women and children. Demand that these types of crimes be severely punished and followed by adequate treatment.

We men also need to force our politicians to take on the porn industry. Somewhere, men's view comes that girls and women are legal prey and that they should submit to degrading sexual activity. The cowardice of the system is striking. Just hearing that the woman who was raped in the city was provocatively dressed. What a load of crap.

Stop the cowardice, stand up and make your voice heard.
